Digital Branding and eCommerce
/ BACKGROUND
Uh-Huh is a Philadelphia based design studio created by yours truly. I create wearable objects that emphasize form, feeling, and function. Each piece is sculpted by hand at BOK in Philadelphia, PA and designed to effortlessly elevate any look. These artful pieces are made from polymer clay and leather making them lightweight and versatile.
As I began to expand my wholesale business I knew I needed a website in addition to my Etsy shop to fulfill orders. I enrolled in a Squarespace design course in early 2020 and refined my skills.
/ APPROACH
E-commerce is a content strategists dream problem—or is it a nightmare?
To begin the project I started an informal competitive analysis of other jewelry lines and planned my site structure around content I knew I could keep fresh.
My main navigation displays four labels shop, info, events, and muses. Three are top tasks my user may be coming to my site for, and one offers something different which aims to elevate the site to the reader.
When it came to structuring my content and connecting it across my site, I started with individual product pages. I am a one-woman show and knew I couldn’t support flowery editorial copy for my vast product line, so I opted to highlight size and color in the main description.
The site is built on Squarespace so I am fairly limited in my ability to display categories within a product page. I knew I wanted shoppers to easily fine more of what they love so as a secondary descriptor further down, I added a description of the collection with links to both the specific piece and the collection as a whole along with product specifications.
Organization was very important to me so I added a faceted classification system to ensure I could properly segment products across other pages.

/ OUTCOMES
Would you believe me if I told you that having a website is a good business move 🤣 I had over 100 orders within the first six months and the site has led to many opportunities to partner with local and national brands.
